Level 1- Puppy Class (14 weeks and under)
You and your puppy will learn the basics in a small individualized class setting, continuing on what was learned in the prerequisite New Puppy Starting Out Right/Owner Training #101 session: Sit, Down, Go to mat,Stay, Watch, Loose leash walking, Come, Leave it, Drop it (and more as time allows) as well as play and socialization with other puppies! It's lots of fun, and you'll also learn solutions to common puppy problems . Lots of handouts, as in all my sessions. We learn in a 4 week class what is usually taught in 6-8 weeks- fast paced, fun, and entertaining!
Small dogs and older puppies welcome w/approval
Private session required first. If you're concerned about vaccinations, please talk to your vet and read the Puppy Socialization Position Statement by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. They recommend at least 1 set of vaccines a week prior to class and a first deworming.

"Puppy Class is such a great opportunity for socialization, both with people and with other dogs. My dog gained a lot of confidence in a very short time. Lessons are simple and easy to learn; easy to teach to your pup. And at only 4 weeks long, it was an easy commitment. Every pup should be lucky enough to go through a Northwood's Dog Training puppy class!" A.F., Boyne Falls
"Enclosed is the class fee for Level 2. The first class was great. I was so impressed with how quickly you got Millie to respond to you in a positive way. We're practicing at home and looking forward to coming back." Ann Z, East Jordan
WHY PRIVATE SESSION First?
As a holistic trainer, I believe it is important to meet each dog and family on an individual basis to get everyone off on the right "paw" in this style of training. I evaluate your dog for class readiness (some are not due to fear, aggression, or other reasons), and teach him (and you!) the basic training skills to be able to handle other dogs and people. We cover MUCh more, including the all-important foundation program that I'm known for, modified to each individual dog and owner.
Over the years, my puppy owners have found MUCH more success in preventing problem behaviors with the combination of a private session then class, therefore the "New Puppy Starting Out Right" or "Owner Training 101" session with you and your puppy (and family) is a prerequisite for Class. Once in awhile I make exceptions.
The private session is at your convenience, bring the whole family, is $150 and lasts 2 hours. We cover SO much in this private session!! Your investment now will pay off later; don't miss your new puppy's critical learning period! Note: The AKC STAR Puppy/Canine Good Citizen require 6 weeks of training. The 2-hour session plus 4 week class satisfy this requirement.

"Patty, Thanks so much for puppy class,we had fun and learned a lot! We would like to participate in level 2. If you would let me know dates and times, I will arrange my work schedule around that. Your classes have made such a difference in Chubacca and us, I can't imagine raising a pup without your training. You're the best! " C.D., Charlevoix
"Your puppy class is awesome! And it really helped having the private session first. We had just as much fun as the puppies, and we learned so much! We were sorry the 4 weeks went so fast." E. K., Vanderbilt
Our friends told us about your classes and highly recommended them, but they forgot to say how much fun they are! We learned so much! Thanks, we'll be registering for the next Level, and maybe this former monster can even be a therapy dog- what a change thanks to you! R.S., Levering
"It's hard now to believe we even considered giving Buster up, but we were serious, due to his aggression and biting us. And to think that now he's such a sweetheart AND passed both the Level 1 class and The AKC Puppy Star program. All thanks to you- we love him so much! We can't wait for the next level" B.S., Petoskey
